BrakeBuddy and Saturn Ion

We have an '07 Saturn Ion and plan to use a BrakeBuddy. If fuse #41 is pulled as provided in Saturn Owner's Manual, will 12V receptacle in Saturn still have power to supply the BrakeBuddy? Thanks.

Jayco 7 Way Connector

Just ordered a Roadmaster Tow Bar with 4 pin connector to car, but will have to replace connector to RV. Is the Jayco Melbourne 7 way plug a flat pin or round pin design? Shouldn't I be able to just add the appropriate 7 way plug to the end of the electrical cable between the car and RV? I live in the Ozark Mountains about 2-1/2 hours from Little Rock and wanted to pick up a connector while we're down in the city; consequently, cannot check our MH to see whether round or flat pin. Thanks for you help.

RE: RGV this winter

Bentsen Grove Resort is a nice park. It is close to the butterfly gardens and the state park which is a birding paradise. There are also many bike trails in the area and opportunities to kayak or canoe are close by as well. We really like the Valley, particularly trips to Mexico, birding, shuffleboard, and dancing. Too much to do, too little time!

Pushpins for Streets and Trips 2008

Is there a way to use pushpins for the markers in lieu of the ones that appear when your planning the trip, or better yet, can you CONVERT the ones that appear as part of route to pushpins? Also, is there any way to edit or change the name of the location or site that pops up when you plan your route in the route planning pane on the left of the screen? Thanks.

RE: Do you belong to a local Good Sam's Club?

I, too, emailed local Good Sam Club chapter rep asking for information about joining. That's been several months ago, and still no word. Tells me it's not the kind of organization to which we want to belong--consequently, their lack of communication provided us with plenty of information--don't get involved in that chapter!

RE: Alltel broadband

Alltel was acquired by Verizon several months ago and their services will merge right after the first of the year (DS works for Alltel). We have Alltel air card and it works great. We used it extensively in the RGV last winter, as well as all the other places we've been. Anywhere you get a cell signal, the air card works.

RE: Buffalo WY, "must sees"

Buffalo is an interesting place and worth 3 or 4 days of your time. Spend a day or two exploring the Big Horn Mountains, another visiting Sheridan, another visiting Little Bighorn Battlefield. As for Buffalo, it was in the middle of the Johnson County cattle and sheep war--remember the movie, Tom Horn, starring Steve McQueen. He portrayed an enforcer in the Johnson County war. The museum in Buffalo is excellent and provides much information about the Native Americans who lived in the area as well as the Johnson County War . Also, there are a number of historic sites of battles between the Calvary and the Indians: Fetterman Massacre and Wagon Box Fight just north of Buffalo towards Sheridan. And Medicine Wheel on Hwy 14 W is awesome.

RE: Memphis to Mountain View, Arkansas

Have made the trip many times; lived in Memphis, grew up in north central Arkansas. From Memphis take I-55 N to Marion, US 64 E to Bald Knob, US 167 N to Pleasant Plains, AR 87 N to Concord, AR 25 W to Drasco, AR 14 W (actually north) to Mountain View. From Memphis, it's about 3 hours 30 minutes.

RE: Buffalo National River

So sorry, but unfortunately that is about the driest time and lowest water levels of the year. After giving it some thought, you might want to check out the Spring River in northeast Arkansas, near the town of Hardy, AR. There are a number of outfitters, and the Spring has a constant flow of water year round due to Mammoth Springs. It is not quite as pretty as the Buffalo, but has some pretty decent paddling.

Roadmaster Tow Plate to Blue Ox Tow Bar?

Am buying an '07 Saturn Ion dinghy with Roadmaster tow plate but without tow bar. In buying a tow bar, would it be better to stick with Roadmaster? If so which one? Or go with option of Blue Ox tow bar? If so, which one and what conversion kit do I need? This is all new to me, so I greatly appreciate the help. Car is already wired, so will need to buy coiled wiring too, and safety cables, unless tow bar comes with these.

RE: Wall arch collapsed

We're going in September; sorry we'll miss it, but I saw it some 30 years ago. Unfortunately, DW did not see it. Here today, gone tomorrow--same with people! Another reason to RV.

RE: Inverter Brand in Jayco Greyhawk 27DS

Our '08 Jayco Melbourne has a Xanterra 400 watt also, and it controls the same things as mentioned in the previous post.

RE: Buffalo National River

I would stay at Buffalo Point (http://www.recreation.gov/camping/Buffalo_Point_Ar/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=74050&topTabIndex=CampingSpot). You'll have the best "floating" there on the lower part of the river, and it's not too terribly far to great hiking in the Boxley Valley (about 1 hour and a must-do), plus there are many other things to see in the area. For example, Mountain View, AR, is only 45 minutes away and is the heart of folk music. They have a wonderful state park in which people demonstrate broom making, soap making, dulcimer making, etc. The Buffalo River is a national river so there's much written about it and the National Park Service has lots of information on camping, hiking, and other things to do. BTW while at Buffalo Point, don't miss going to the old mining ghost town of Rush. Also, please don't get too attached to Arkansas. We want to be among the last people to move here!

RE: Safe campground near Memphis?

There is a very nice and safe campground in West Memphis on the Mississippi River. A search of this forum will reveal the site as I can't remember the name. It is, however, about 45 minutes from Cordova. There are hook-ups at the AgriCenter which would probably be pretty safe as it is a county facility, and it is only 5 minutes from Cordova. Unfortunately, Memphis and its surrounding suburbs are crime ridden, actually crime infested, and seemingly beyond fixing. My DD and her hubby found a bullet in their roof in Cordova a few months ago. This is one of the reasons I moved to northern Arkansas; crime, and criminals, are not tolerated here, and there are serious consequences to pay if one is found guilty of committing a crime!

RE: Buffalo National River

Please don't misunderstand, the Buffalo is gorgeous anytime of year, but you will have to pull over some shoals/riffles in the fall, pending a rain storm. In fact, the first week of November is absolutely optimum for fall colors in the Ozarks, and there is no prettier place than Boxley Valley near Ponca, AR, on the Buffalo; we go every year and hike. Paddling is much better in the spring when there is lots of runoff. I actually prefer the first week in May for pure paddling. And, the other posters were correct--don't overlook the hiking. I would plan on coming early November, paddle when/where you can, and take several hikes. Then come back in early May for some Class 2 and 3 water on the upper Buffalo River. You won't regret it.

RE: Buffalo National River

The "Buffalo" is pretty low in September and while floatable, one would have to pull the canoe through MANY shoals rather than paddle. And, you will have to confine your paddling to the lower parts of the Buffalo as well because of water conditions. Also, it's pretty hot up here this time of year. For some outstanding paddling, try the Buffalo in March, April, or May.

RE: vent rattle down the road

Have the same problem, and I too, was/am OCD. Even turning up the music didn't keep my mind off the rattle. So, made sure the tabs were locked in place--didn't help. Finally, got some very thin foam and stuck between the vent cover and MH, then locked the tabs back in place (it took some slight pressure) and the problem was solved.

RE: Critters in the Basement

Had/have mouse problem also. Have tried virtually everything (see my posts last week). Put out extensive mouse trap line and have caught one so far.

RE: Glacier National Park, Montana

We like the setting of camping in a NP. Our favorite is Two Medicine on the east side.
